Professor Fergal McCaffery is a distinguished leader in computing science at Dundalk Institute of Technology, where he serves as Head of the School of Informatics and Creative Arts. He founded and directs the Regulated Software Research Centre and plays a pivotal role as Medical Device Software Engineering competency area leader at Lero – the SFI Research Centre for Software. An international expert in medical device software engineering, he has secured over €16 million in competitive national and European funding. His recognition includes the 2024 LERO Impact Award and earlier honors for innovation and entrepreneurship.He has co-founded two companies, Nova Leah and STATSports.Nova Leah employed 25, while STATSports has grown to over 180 employees.
