Dr Ciara Ahern leads a multidisciplinary team at TU Dublin that is advancing how data infrastructure, policy intelligence and digital innovation support the decarbonisation of Ireland’s built environment, which accounts for 38% of national greenhouse gas emissions.
As founder and PI of the Irish Building Stock Observatory (IBSO), she has established a nationally recognised platform that converts fragmented building-energy data into actionable intelligence for government, financial institutions, utilities, one-stop-shops and local authorities. With more than two decades of research leadership and European collaboration, Dr Ahern provides the strategic vision, scientific direction and policy alignment needed to transition the observatory from research demonstrator to commercial enterprise.
