Dr. Michael Schukat is a senior lecturer with 27 years of experience both in industry and academia. He has been the PI of seven and a collaborator on two (mainly Enterprise Ireland funded) projects, managing 7 research assistants / post docs to date. One of this projects (FarmEye, 2014-2017) resulted in a spin-off company and a license agreement with NUIG. His responsibility within this project was to oversee work packages related to soil management software, which subsequently became a core business offering of a start-up company (FarmEye Ltd., now Senus with the product/service Senus Soil, https://senus.com/senus-soil/ ). Soil management is hugely important for the efficient and resourceful use of fertilisers in farming, and while Senus Soil goes beyond the deliverables of the original FarmEye project, it is based on work completed by him and his team.
