Dr. Rakesh Bhaskaran Nair | ARC Hub for ICT

Dr. Nair is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dublin City University with expertise in additive manufacturing (AM), optical physics, and data science. He brings over eight years of international research experience, including three years in Canada, and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. His core achievement is the development of the OptiSIFT platform, advanced from concept to functional demonstrator within two years at DCU. His expertise spans three areas:

Hardware and Materials: Extensive experience with spectral cameras, IR Sensors, optical sensing systems, and degradation behaviour of AM metal powders, with a focus on oxidation mechanisms.

Software and Data: Architect of the OptiSIFT platform, developed in Python to process large-scale datasets and translate optical signals into actionable material insights.

Validation: Performance benchmarked against industrial standards and supported by peer-reviewed publication (Measurement, 2026.
