I'm an Associate Professor in UCD's School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. My research focuses on optimization, analysis and visualization of electrical power systems. Specifically, I develop techniques to reveal the structure and function of power networks. Over the past decade I've published extensively on power system visualization in IEEE journals and conferences, have developed algorithms that were incorporated into widely-used research tools, and collaborated with Irish grid operators on practical visualization projects. FlowVis will commercialize this bod of research: taking flow-based visualization techniques that currently exist in my academic publications and hardening them into production software that grid planners can actually use.

6GOrch
Optimises how 6G networks allocate computing resources at the edge, so demanding services like autonomous vehicles run reliably on constrained hardware.
EAComm
High-bandwidth optical neuromorphic AI chips that cut the electricity and water data centres consume to run rapidly growing AI workloads.
EURVISTA
An EU policy intelligence platform with a natural language interface, giving public affairs teams strategic insight into positions and stakeholder networks.
