Healthcare providers and medical technology companies are facing a growing patient-safety and compliance challenge: the volume and complexity of narrative complaints, incident reports and adverse-event submissions are increasing rapidly, while analytical capacity remains limited. Existing systems are unable to reliably interpret large volumes of unstructured text, resulting in delayed detection of emerging risks, increased regulatory burden and missed opportunities to prevent patient harm.

This project will deliver a first-of-its-kind AI-powered intelligence platform that transforms patient complaints and safety reports into structured, evidence-linked insights for clinical governance, quality improvement and regulatory reporting. Building on the validated LUCE opinion-analytics platform, the solution will provide advanced interpretation of complex narratives while maintaining transparency, traceability and auditability—critical capabilities lacking in current complaint-management and safety-reporting systems.

The platform will enable healthcare organisations and medtech companies to identify safety trends earlier, streamline regulatory processes and make data-driven improvements to patient care. Through pilot deployments with healthcare and industry partners, the technology will be validated in real-world environments and refined for commercial adoption.

By project completion, the initiative will deliver a market-ready minimum viable product, technical validation evidence, early customer engagement and a commercialisation strategy demonstrating measurable benefits through reduced analysis time, improved risk management and enhanced patient-safety outcomes. A dedicated spin-out company will target global opportunities across healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and public-sector organisations seeking scalable AI solutions for safety intelligence and regulatory compliance.
