About the project

Meta Expressions developed a unified, user-friendly platform that empowers both technical and non-technical users to create high-quality, expressive digital characters and animations. The platform merges state-of-the-art motion capture with motion synthesis, enabling users to integrate elements such as emotion, exaggeration, personality, and gesture style into animated characters.

Meta Expressions includes a customisable user interface, allowing varying levels of control depending on user expertise. Additionally, a plug-in for speech-driven gesture animation using reinforcement learning allows for real-time lip-syncing and gesture generation, supporting finger motion, facial expression, and style adaptation.

The key objectives of Meta Expressions are:

1. A unified tool combining motion capture and synthesis with expressive features (emotion, exaggeration, style).
2. An adaptive user interface that accommodates both technical and non-technical users.
3. Enabling export of fully animated characters compatible with common game engines and creative platforms.
