Supply-chain disruption imposes substantial economic costs globally, with geopolitical instability, climate-related events and supplier failures increasingly exposing vulnerabilities across manufacturing and logistics networks. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2025 identifies supply-chain disruption and related systemic risks among the significant economic threats facing organisations over the coming decade. Mid-sized manufacturers and logistics operators are particularly challenged by the complexity of managing these risks, while often lacking the resources, infrastructure and specialist expertise required to deploy advanced enterprise-scale resilience platforms.
Existing solutions, including Kinaxis, Resilinc, AnyLogistix and SAP IBP, provide capabilities across supply-chain visibility, risk monitoring, planning and scenario analysis. However, there remains an opportunity for a more accessible solution that moves beyond identifying and simulating disruption to prescribing and optimising mitigation strategies across financial, environmental and social objectives.
This project will deliver ResilientChain, a cloud-based, AI-powered supply-chain resilience analytics platform combining combinatorial optimisation, simulation and machine learning. The platform will map multi-tier supply-chain vulnerabilities, stress-test disruption scenarios and generate optimised mitigation strategies that account for the triple bottom line: business performance, environmental impact and societal considerations. Its cloud-native, infrastructure-light architecture is designed to make advanced resilience analytics accessible without the substantial technology infrastructure or specialist teams typically associated with enterprise-grade solutions.
ResilientChain builds on the research and technology foundations established through Research Ireland project 22/NCF/DR/11264 and is designed to support emerging requirements for supply-chain transparency and sustainability reporting, including those arising from the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The project will advance the technology from TRL 4 to TRL 7 within 24 months, transforming a validated research prototype into a robust, commercially deployable B2B SaaS platform. With a planned spin-out company following completion of the programme, the project provides a pathway from research and technological validation to commercialisation, international market entry and the development of Ireland-based capability in supply-chain resilience technology.
